Sinclair Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities & Ult Copy
Learn Sinclair abilities, the current control build, skill priority, Vexing Bolt curves, Assistant swaps, Rabbit Hex, ultimate copying, and counterplay.
Creating a second angle with Spectral Assistant, curving Vexing Bolt through cover, and copying the enemy ultimate that best reverses the fight
Updated July 21, 2026: Sinclair is the highest-complexity current mystic, firing redirectable Vexing Bolts, attacking and swapping through Spectral Assistant, transforming groups with Rabbit Hex, and copying an enemy ultimate through Audience Participation.
Sinclair plays two positions and many possible ultimates. Vexing Bolt can curve after release, Spectral Assistant mirrors attacks and provides a swap point, Rabbit Hex disables most actions without interrupting active abilities, and Audience Participation changes with the enemy roster. Success depends on planning the next state, not just the current cast.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Sinclair at a 14.39% pick rate and 44.38% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Sinclair At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Mystic |
| Practical role | High-complexity trickster, curving projectile caster, clone-positioning duelist, area hex controller, and enemy-ultimate copier |
| Complexity | 4 (highest current rating) |
| Starting health | 730 |
| Move speed and stamina | 7.2 m/s and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Creating a second angle with Spectral Assistant, curving Vexing Bolt through cover, and copying the enemy ultimate that best reverses the fight |
| Main risk | Choosing a copied ultimate without the positioning or timing needed to use it, while leaving the Assistant swap or Rabbit Hex unavailable for defense |
Sinclair Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Vexing Bolt | Fires a magic bolt whose damage increases with travel; it can be redirected toward the crosshair, and an active Assistant also casts a reduced-damage bolt. | Fire from two angles, curve around cover after the target reacts, and preserve enough distance for the travel scaling. |
| 2 | Spectral Assistant | Summons an Assistant that attacks whenever Sinclair fires; recasting swaps positions with it, and the initial cast reloads Sinclair's weapon. | Create a crossfire, refresh the weapon during a trade, and keep the Assistant somewhere that becomes a safe or surprising swap. |
| 3 | Rabbit Hex | Hexes an area and transforms enemies into faster rabbits that take increased damage but cannot perform most actions; it does not interrupt abilities already in progress. | Cast before a dangerous channel begins, amplify allied damage on a group, or disable follow-up while remembering that active abilities continue. |
| 4 | Audience Participation | Copies an enemy hero's ultimate for a limited time; reactivation casts it with this ability's upgrade points and copied cooldown. | Choose the ultimate that fits Sinclair's current position and team plan, not simply the most impressive enemy spell on the roster. |
Sinclair's tools multiply decisions. The Assistant creates another bolt origin and a future location. Rabbit Hex creates vulnerability but does not stop an ability already running. Audience Participation adds an enemy ultimate with its own range, prerequisites, and risks. The guide's build supports duration and area so correct decisions affect more of the fight.
Best Sinclair Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Vexing Bolt
- Rabbit Hex
- Audience Participation
- Spectral Assistant
This is the most-played completed max-order route in the current standard-match sample. It prioritizes repeatable curving damage and group hex before the copied ultimate. Spectral Assistant provides its defining crossfire and swap utility from base value.
Sinclair Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Opening Rounds, High-Velocity Rounds, Extra Health, Monster Rounds | Stabilizes the weapon opening and wave while adding health for a hero whose positioning mistakes are severely punished. |
| Core | Mystic Expansion, Veil Walker, Sprint Boots, Duration Extender | Broadens control, creates safer veil rotations, improves access, and extends the effects that follow a correct setup. |
| Late | Superior Duration, Greater Expansion, Warp Stone, Dispel Magic | Maximizes area and duration while providing a direct reposition and a way to remove a crucial enemy effect. |
The current pro sample is a control-and-positioning route rather than a pure damage race. Opening weapon items secure the early game, then expansion and duration improve Rabbit Hex and compatible copied ultimates. Veil Walker, Sprint Boots, Warp Stone, and Dispel Magic create the position and clean state needed to use a complex kit.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Sinclair pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Counterspell when one targeted disable prevents every Assistant swap or copied ultimate.
- Use Echo Shard when repeating the correct non-ultimate setup is more valuable than another damage purchase.
- Choose Spirit Resilience when Sinclair cannot survive long enough for extended Hex and copied-ultimate value.
How To Play Sinclair
Lane
Use Spectral Assistant to reload during a real trade and create a second weapon angle. Fire Vexing Bolt with enough travel distance to matter, then redirect after the opponent commits to cover. Keep the swap location safer than Sinclair's current position.
Mid Game
Rotate through veils and place the Assistant on a useful side angle before showing. Rabbit Hex the group before their major casts start, fire paired Bolts, and swap only when the destination improves survival or the copied ultimate angle.
Teamfights
Choose Audience Participation by function: initiation, save, damage, or reset. Confirm that Sinclair has the range and conditions to use the copy. Duration and expansion reward a prepared cast, but they cannot make the wrong ultimate correct.
Late Game
Low current win rate and complexity four leave little room for improvised positioning. Track the Assistant, enemy ultimates, active channels, and the Hex area before engaging. Use Warp Stone or a swap to preserve a second action after the copied ultimate.
Sinclair Combos And Fight Patterns
- Crossfire: place Spectral Assistant on a side angle, fire Vexing Bolt from both origins, redirect after the target chooses cover, then swap if the new position is safe.
- Hex window: Rabbit Hex before the enemy channel starts, fire weapon and paired Bolts into the increased-damage targets, then use the copied ultimate while actions remain disabled.
- Escape trick: leave Assistant behind cover, draw pressure with a curved Bolt, swap before the burst lands, and use Warp Stone only if the enemy follows the second position.
Sinclair Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Sinclair
- Track the Spectral Assistant so the swap destination is never surprising.
- Change direction after Vexing Bolt redirects instead of holding one cover line.
- Begin protected channels before Rabbit Hex lands when the timing is safe.
- Draft positioning around the enemy ultimate Sinclair is most likely to copy.
- Pressure Sinclair after the swap when the second escape tool is unavailable.
Common Sinclair Mistakes
- Placing the Assistant where a later swap becomes more dangerous.
- Redirecting Vexing Bolt too early and revealing the final line.
- Expecting Rabbit Hex to interrupt an ability already in progress.
- Copying the strongest-looking ultimate without meeting its range or setup.
- Building duration without surviving long enough to use the extended effects.
Sinclair Lore
Henry and Savannah Sinclair were stage magicians who bound their souls together, then died in an accident while blaming each other for the failed cue. Now the bickering ghosts must cooperate to undo an eternal union.

Sinclair FAQ
What is the best Sinclair build?
The current pro sample favors a stable weapon opening followed by Spirit expansion, duration, veil access, movement, Warp Stone, and Dispel Magic for control and positioning.
How does Sinclair Audience Participation work?
It copies an enemy ultimate temporarily. Reactivating casts the copy with Audience Participation's upgrade points and the copied cooldown.
What should Sinclair max first?
The largest current completed route maxes Vexing Bolt, then Rabbit Hex, Audience Participation, and Spectral Assistant.
What counters Sinclair?
Tracking the Assistant, changing direction after Bolt redirects, understanding Hex timing, denying the best copied-ultimate position, and pressuring after swaps reduce the tricks.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 75-game Sinclair pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
