How To Use The Deadlock Hero Randomizer
- Leave every character selected for a full-roster roll, or clear the pool and choose only the heroes your group is willing to play.
- Set the number of picks from one to six. Every hero in a party roll is unique.
- Keep Avoid Previous Roll enabled when you want variety across repeated games.
- Select Roll Hero or Roll Party, then copy the result for chat or share the pool setup with your group.
The picker reads DramaLock's current character database rather than a fixed image. New publicly playable heroes can enter the pool after the roster is updated without rebuilding the randomizer by hand.
Single Pick, Party Roll, Or Custom Challenge
A full-roster single roll is the quickest answer when nobody wants to choose. Party mode is useful for customs, scrims, community nights, and groups that want a complete lineup without duplicate heroes. The custom pool turns the same tool into a challenge generator: select only supports, only unfamiliar characters, or the five heroes each player is currently learning.
A random result is not a draft recommendation. Deadlock team composition, lane matchups, player comfort, and the current patch still matter. Use the roll to break indecision or create a constraint, then decide whether the result makes sense for the match you are actually playing.
How The Random Selection Works
The tool samples from the checked hero pool without replacement, which means one party roll cannot contain the same character twice. When Avoid Previous Roll is on, the last result is temporarily removed if enough other selected heroes remain. If the pool is too small, the picker restores those heroes rather than failing to produce a legal roll.
Your pool and party size stay in local browser storage. Share Pool creates a URL containing the selected hero slugs, party size, and repeat setting; it does not create an account or upload personal information.
Deadlock Hero Randomizer FAQ
How many heroes can I roll at once?
You can roll one to six unique heroes. The maximum matches a full Deadlock team, while the minimum works as a standard random character picker.
Can the same hero appear twice?
No. A single roll samples without replacement. Avoid Previous Roll can also keep the most recent picks out of the next result when the selected pool is large enough.
Can I exclude heroes I do not own or play?
Yes. Clear the pool, select the characters you want included, and roll only from that custom set. Search helps narrow a large roster quickly.
Does a shared link preserve the random result?
The link preserves the pool and settings, not the previous result. Use Copy Picks when you want to send the actual rolled lineup.
Is this an official Valve tool?
No. DramaLock is independent from Valve. Hero names and portraits identify Deadlock characters, while the selection logic and interface belong to this fan-made tool.
Roster note: This page uses DramaLock's public 38-hero snapshot checked on July 21, 2026. Deadlock remains in development, so the available roster can change.
