Holliday Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities & Lasso
Learn Holliday abilities, the current Spirit build, skill priority, barrel chains, Bounce Pad movement, Spirit Lasso combos, and counterplay.
Stacking barrels around a forced route, launching from Bounce Pad, and turning one accurate catch into a Spirit Lasso isolation
Updated July 21, 2026: Holliday is a high-complexity marksman who sets chain-reacting Powder Kegs, launches heroes with Bounce Pad, rewards timed headshots through Crackshot, and pulls one target with Spirit Lasso.
Holliday creates her own firing angles. Powder Keg changes where the opponent can stand, Bounce Pad creates height or distance, Crackshot rewards the first accurate headshot after its cooldown, and Spirit Lasso isolates a target. Her excellent movement speed helps, but only two stamina make careless entries difficult to undo.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Holliday at a 23.70% pick rate and 48.60% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Holliday At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Marksman |
| Practical role | Explosive trick-shot marksman, vertical skirmisher, headshot specialist, and single-target displacement initiator |
| Complexity | 3 of 3 |
| Starting health | 780 |
| Move speed and stamina | 8.2 m/s and 2 stamina |
| Best at | Stacking barrels around a forced route, launching from Bounce Pad, and turning one accurate catch into a Spirit Lasso isolation |
| Main risk | Spending both limited stamina and Bounce Pad for damage, then missing the headshot or Lasso that was supposed to justify the entry |
Holliday Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Powder Keg | Throws or places a barrel that explodes after a delay for Spirit damage and knockup; shots, melee attacks, or another barrel can detonate it early. | Pre-place a threat on the escape route, shoot it for exact timing, or chain barrels so one detonation reaches a protected target. |
| 2 | Bounce Pad | Places a pad that launches any hero; Holliday deals area damage when she lands, once per person per pad. | Create a high firing angle, extend a Lasso, cross terrain, or hold it as the exit after an aggressive barrel setup. |
| 3 | Crackshot | An off-cooldown headshot deals bonus damage and applies a fading movement penalty; NPC hits reduce the cooldown and the shot ignores range falloff. | Prepare the passive on the wave, then land the opening headshot before committing the rest of the ability sequence. |
| 4 | Spirit Lasso | Throws a lasso that deals Spirit damage, pulls, and stuns the target; Bounce Pad extends its duration. | Catch after movement is spent, drag the target away from help, or combine with a pad when the team can punish the extended control. |
Holliday rewards preparation and aim more than raw speed. A barrel without a firing angle is only a warning, and a Bounce Pad without an exit plan can expose a two-stamina hero. Crackshot supplies the accurate opening hit; Keg and Lasso then turn that hit into displacement and controlled Spirit damage.
Best Holliday Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Powder Keg
- Spirit Lasso
- Bounce Pad
- Crackshot
This is the most-played completed max-order route in the current standard-match sample. It emphasizes the repeatable barrel threat and single-target catch before movement. Crackshot remains valuable throughout the game even when its final upgrades arrive last.
Holliday Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Extra Charge, Rapid Recharge, Mystic Burst, Extra Spirit | Adds barrels, restores charges quickly, and makes early detonations and Lasso connections more threatening. |
| Core | Extra Stamina, Stamina Mastery, Tankbuster, Recharging Rush | Repairs the limited movement pool while scaling charged Spirit casts and giving the sequence a repeatable tempo. |
| Late | Improved Spirit, Boundless Spirit, Spirit Burn, Superior Cooldown | Raises Spirit damage and shortens the wait between high-impact barrel and Lasso attempts. |
The current pro sample is decisively Spirit- and charge-oriented. Extra Charge, Rapid Recharge, Recharging Rush, and cooldown investment keep barrels available, while Tankbuster, Spirit Burn, Improved Spirit, and Boundless Spirit increase the value of a clean detonation and Lasso catch.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Holliday pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Counterspell when targeted control removes Holliday during the Bounce Pad entry.
- Use Warp Stone when the map angle cannot be solved with a pad alone.
- Choose Healbane when barrel pressure is landing but enemy sustain erases every successful setup.
How To Play Holliday
Lane
Place Powder Keg where it contests both the wave and the opponent, then detonate on your timing instead of waiting for the full fuse. Use NPC hits to cycle Crackshot and save Bounce Pad when the enemy can punish a low-stamina retreat.
Mid Game
Approach with a prepared barrel or a pad route. Land Crackshot, detonate the Keg for knockup, and use Spirit Lasso after the target spends movement. Recharging items allow another threat quickly, but do not place every charge in the same avoidable spot.
Teamfights
Holliday can initiate, but a flank is not mandatory. Barrels can break a grouped formation from safety, and Lasso can pull a diver away from the backline. Use Bounce Pad for height only when the airborne angle is protected from focused fire.
Late Game
One accurate catch can decide the fight, while one missed entry can remove Holliday immediately. Track stamina, Counterspell, and enemy movement before committing. Preserve a pad or dash after the first burst whenever the kill is not guaranteed.
Holliday Combos And Fight Patterns
- Barrel catch: place Powder Keg on the route, land Crackshot, shoot the Keg for knockup, then Spirit Lasso as the target tries to leave.
- Airborne isolation: Lasso the priority target, cross a Bounce Pad to extend the control, land beside allies, then detonate a prepared barrel.
- Defensive reset: drop a Keg at the approach, Bounce Pad away, shoot the barrel as the pursuer enters, and use the knockup to restore distance.

How To Counter Holliday
- Shoot or avoid barrels before Holliday controls their detonation timing.
- Save movement for Spirit Lasso and the landing area.
- Pressure after Bounce Pad and stamina are spent.
- Use cover to deny the opening Crackshot headshot.
- Spread so one barrel chain cannot knock up the whole formation.
Common Holliday Mistakes
- Using Bounce Pad for small damage and losing the escape.
- Waiting for every barrel to expire instead of shooting for exact timing.
- Lassoing before the target spends movement or immunity.
- Ignoring Crackshot timing before starting the combo.
- Stacking all barrel charges where one retreat avoids them together.
Holliday Lore
Holliday was a small-town sheriff until a murderer called the Troubadour escaped her by exploding into crows. She followed the investigation to New York, determined to finish the hunt.

Holliday FAQ
What is the best Holliday build?
The current pro sample emphasizes Powder Keg charges, recharge and cooldown, Spirit scaling, Tankbuster, Spirit Burn, and enough extra stamina to survive aggressive angles.
How do Holliday Powder Kegs detonate?
They explode after a delay, but Holliday can trigger them early with shots, melee attacks, or another barrel for precise knockup timing.
What should Holliday max first?
The largest current completed route maxes Powder Keg, then Spirit Lasso, Bounce Pad, and Crackshot.
What counters Holliday?
Clearing barrels, saving movement for Lasso, pressuring spent stamina, denying headshots, and spreading against chains reduce her setup value.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 118-game Holliday pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
