Mirage Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities & Djinn Marks
Learn Mirage abilities, the current Spirit build, skill priority, Djinn Mark timing, Dust Devil control, Traveler rotations, and counterplay.
Building marks on one visible target, consuming them at the right damage breakpoint, and teleporting to a fight that has already revealed its threats
Updated July 21, 2026: Mirage is a medium-complexity assassin who steals health and weakens damage, sends a lifting tornado forward, stacks exponentially stronger shot marks, and teleports to visible heroes through the minimap.
Mirage rewards patience inside an active fight. Fire Scarabs weaken the return damage, Dust Devil creates the firing window and grants bullet evasion, Djinn's Mark grows as repeated shots land on one target, and Traveler lets Mirage join or chase only after the destination has been read correctly.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Mirage at a 27.90% pick rate and 49.60% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Mirage At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Assassin |
| Practical role | Timed-shot assassin, escalating mark finisher, tornado controller, and minimap-based global responder |
| Complexity | 2 of 3 |
| Starting health | 730 |
| Move speed and stamina | 7.0 m/s and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Building marks on one visible target, consuming them at the right damage breakpoint, and teleporting to a fight that has already revealed its threats |
| Main risk | Using Traveler into a watched destination or consuming Djinn marks before another shot can multiply the stored damage |
Mirage Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fire Scarabs | Launches scarabs that steal health from enemies and reduce the damage they deal. | Open a sustained trade, weaken the most dangerous return fire, and recover before committing to repeated marks. |
| 2 | Dust Devil | Sends a tornado forward that damages, slows, and lifts enemies; Mirage gains bullet evasion after casting. | Create a clean shot window, interrupt movement through a corridor, or protect the first seconds after arriving. |
| 3 | Djinn's Mark | Shots apply marks that reveal the target and deal Spirit damage when they expire or are consumed; each added mark doubles the current damage. The active consumes all marks immediately. | Keep shooting the same target when safe, then consume before the target escapes, cleanses, or the mark duration runs out. |
| 4 | Traveler | Selects a visible hero on the minimap and teleports to that target after a delay; taking damage can interrupt the journey. | Reinforce a fight from across the map, follow a retreat, or join a protected ally after checking the destination and interruption risk. |
Mirage is strongest when the player separates setup from cash-out. Scarabs and Dust Devil improve the trade, weapon hits grow Djinn's Mark, and the active chooses when to take the stored damage. Traveler is not an automatic engage; it is a delayed map decision whose landing point may change before Mirage arrives.
Best Mirage Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Djinn's Mark
- Fire Scarabs
- Dust Devil
- Traveler
This is the largest completed max-order route in the current standard-match sample. It prioritizes the escalating mark engine, then sustain and damage reduction. Dust Devil supplies crucial control at base value, while Traveler remains useful for its map access before final upgrades.
Mirage Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Healbane, Mystic Shot, Headshot Booster, Mystic Regeneration | Adds anti-heal and Spirit procs to accurate early shots while keeping Mirage healthy enough to build marks. |
| Core | Mystic Vulnerability, Dispel Magic, Compress Cooldown, Headhunter | Amplifies Spirit damage, removes enemy protection, shortens the next cycle, and rewards deliberate headshots. |
| Late | Escalating Exposure, Toxic Bullets, Superior Cooldown, Ricochet | Deepens sustained damage, pressures healing, increases ability uptime, and spreads weapon pressure through grouped fights. |
The current pro sample combines accurate weapon hits with escalating Spirit damage. Mystic Shot and headshot support make each firing window matter, while Mystic Vulnerability, Escalating Exposure, and cooldown investment improve the mark cash-out. Dispel Magic helps prevent defensive effects from wasting a fully prepared target.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Mirage pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Ethereal Shift or another defensive active when Traveler arrivals are being punished before Dust Devil can create space.
- Use Slowing Hex when a mobile target leaves the mark-building window before the next shot.
- Choose a direct resistance item when Scarab damage reduction is not enough to survive the enemy's main threat.
How To Play Mirage
Lane
Use Fire Scarabs before a sustained trade and aim repeated shots at one target rather than scattering marks. Dust Devil creates the easiest headshot window. Consume Djinn marks when the opponent is about to escape or the current stack is enough to secure the trade.
Mid Game
Watch the minimap for fights that have already committed important cooldowns. Traveler to a protected ally or exposed enemy, cast Dust Devil on arrival, apply Scarabs, and build marks while the target is lifted, slowed, or distracted.
Teamfights
Stay at the edge where accurate shots can remain on one priority target. Use Dispel Magic before consuming a valuable stack, and save Traveler for a deliberate flank, reinforcement, or pursuit rather than disappearing from the front at random.
Late Game
The map-wide option creates both opportunity and danger. Check enemy positions, health, and allied support before confirming Traveler. A safe four-mark cash-out on the correct target is more valuable than arriving alone for an uncertain chase.
Mirage Combos And Fight Patterns
- Mark burst: land Fire Scarabs, lift the target with Dust Devil, fire accurate shots to add Djinn marks, then activate the mark before the target escapes or cleanses.
- Global reinforcement: choose a protected hero on the minimap, begin Traveler outside enemy damage, cast Dust Devil on arrival, then Scarabs and repeated shots on the exposed target.
- Defensive turn: Fire Scarabs the attacker for healing and damage reduction, send Dust Devil through the chase, use the bullet-evasion window to reposition, then build or consume marks from range.
Mirage Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Mirage
- Pressure Mirage when Traveler begins so damage interrupts the teleport.
- Break line of sight before another shot doubles the active mark.
- Cleanse or use defensive effects before Mirage consumes a large stack.
- Move away from Dust Devil's travel line and punish after bullet evasion ends.
- Show a protected destination, then collapse on the delayed Traveler arrival.
Common Mirage Mistakes
- Consuming Djinn marks immediately when another safe shot could multiply the damage.
- Splitting weapon hits across several targets without a plan.
- Using Traveler without checking the landing area or interruption risk.
- Casting Dust Devil after the target has already left its path.
- Building only Spirit damage while inaccurate shots never create a large stack.
Mirage Lore
Mirage serves as bodyguard to Nashala Dion, a djinn ambassador on a diplomatic mission. Their extraordinary objective is sovereign territory in Wyoming, pursued through the occult politics of the Cursed Apple.

Mirage FAQ
What is the best Mirage build?
The current pro sample combines Mystic Shot and headshot support with anti-heal, Spirit vulnerability, Dispel Magic, cooldown, Escalating Exposure, and Ricochet.
How does Mirage Djinn's Mark work?
Shots apply a timed mark. Each additional mark doubles its current damage, and the active consumes all marks to deal the stored Spirit damage immediately.
What should Mirage max first?
The largest completed current route maxes Djinn's Mark, then Fire Scarabs, Dust Devil, and Traveler.
What counters Mirage?
Interrupting Traveler, breaking line of sight between marks, defensive effects before the cash-out, avoiding Dust Devil, and punishing delayed arrivals reduce his pick value.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 174-game Mirage pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
