Rem Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities, Combos & Tips
A current support guide to Pillow Toss, Tag Along, Lil Helpers, Naptime, popular items, and safer teamfight decisions.
Save the ally, move the fight, then put the room to sleep.
Updated July 21, 2026: Rem is a high-complexity support and controller who rescues allies with Tag Along, manages the map through Lil Helpers, knocks enemies away with Pillow Toss, and turns grouped fights with Naptime.
Rem is strongest when he reads danger before it becomes a death. His kit rewards route planning, ally awareness, helper management, and patient ultimate timing more than raw solo damage. He can move between teammates quickly, but poor target selection can carry him directly into the losing side of a fight.
Rem At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Primary job | Mobile support, sustain, map utility, and area control |
| Game-data type | Unclassified in current game data; functionally support/controller |
| Complexity | 3 of 3 |
| Starting health | 680 |
| Move speed and stamina | 7.2 move speed and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Saving allies, moving with a carry, helper utility, and large fight setup |
| Main risk | Entering with the wrong ally or channeling Naptime without protection |
Rem Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | Practical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pillow Toss | Throws a pillow for Spirit damage, heavy knockback, and cooldown reduction on Rem's other abilities when it lands. | Peel an engager, interrupt a route, or shorten the wait for another support cycle. |
| 2 | Tag Along | Jumps to an ally, gives both characters a missing-health burst heal and regeneration, and can hop to other allies once each. | Rescue a pressured teammate, travel with an initiator, or reposition without walking through open space. |
| 3 | Lil Helpers | Helpers collect boxes, perform Sinner's Sacrifices, or follow heroes and troopers to provide movement, resistance, healing, and combat support. | Create map value between fights and reinforce the teammate or wave that will matter next. |
| 4 | Naptime | Channels a gaze through walls and floors that slows movement, restricts mobility, then puts affected enemies to sleep before wake-up damage. | Begin a coordinated teamfight, punish a choke, or stop enemies from crossing a contested objective. |
Pillow Toss is not only peel: landing it advances the rest of Rem’s cooldown cycle. Tag Along can use items and redirects Rem’s self-casts to the attached ally. Lil Helpers can be cast while attached, which is why strong Rem play looks like one continuous support sequence instead of four unrelated buttons.
Best Rem Ability Order
The most-used complete order in the current API sample begins by investing in Tag Along and Lil Helpers, then unlocks Pillow Toss before the first Naptime upgrade.
- Tag Along
- Tag Along
- Lil Helpers
- Lil Helpers
- Pillow Toss
- Lil Helpers
- Naptime
This path emphasizes healing, ally mobility, and helper value. Move Pillow Toss earlier when lane pressure requires more knockback, or prioritize Naptime upgrades when your team already has damage and needs reliable fight control.
Rem Build Priorities
| Stage | Popular item package | Why players buy it |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Extra Charge, Extra Spirit, Mystic Expansion, Grit | More helper access, stronger ability output, wider influence, and a basic survival button. |
| Core | Improved Spirit, Healing Booster, Rapid Recharge, Guardian Ward | Improves the support loop, repeated helper use, healing, and protection. |
| Control | Compress Cooldown, Superior Cooldown, Greater Expansion, Superior Duration | Makes Rem's major saves and area-control windows available more often and affect more space. |
| Late | Boundless Spirit, Healing Tempo, Transcendent Cooldown | Scales both support output and late-fight uptime when the match reaches expensive items. |
Recent purchases show a support-first pattern, but Rem still needs defensive adaptation. Buy debuff removal, resistance, or movement when the enemy can interrupt Naptime or punish the moment Tag Along ends. Trophy Collector is popular because Helpers can interact with Sinner’s Sacrifices, but it should not replace the protection your actual matchup requires.

How To Play Rem
Lane
Use Pillow Toss to deny clean engages and shorten your support cooldowns. Track which ally can safely carry Tag Along forward, and send Helpers where they produce real economy or lane pressure instead of leaving them idle.
Mid Game
Move with the teammate most likely to start or survive a fight. Tag Along before crossing exposed ground, deploy Helpers during the ride, then choose an exit that leaves Rem behind cover rather than in front of the enemy.
Teamfights
Naptime is strongest when allies can immediately use the sleep window. Channel from an angle or behind terrain, communicate the target area, and avoid spending the ultimate after your team has already used every follow-up tool.
Late Game
Your value is keeping the correct damage dealer active and denying enemy movement around objectives. One patient Tag Along or Naptime can matter more than chasing personal damage at the edge of the fight.
Rem Combos And Fight Patterns
- Basic peel: Pillow Toss the diver away, Tag Along to the threatened ally, then use the shortened cooldown cycle to prepare another save.
- Mobile support: Tag Along to an initiator, cast Lil Helpers during the ride, hop to a second ally for the heal, then eject into cover.
- Objective setup: Approach attached to a durable teammate, let allies establish vision, then channel Naptime through terrain as enemies enter the choke.
Rem Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Rem
- Spread before Naptime so one gaze cannot control the whole team.
- Track which ally Rem is attached to and prepare for the ejection point.
- Use ultimate stuns or displacement to break the attached support pattern when available.
- Pressure Rem after Tag Along ends, before the next rescue cycle is ready.
- Clear or contest Helper value instead of ignoring the extra map pressure.
Common Rem Mistakes
- Using Tag Along only as a panic button instead of planning the next ally and exit.
- Channeling Naptime where enemies can simply leave the gaze or interrupt safely.
- Holding Helpers during quiet map time when they could collect, sacrifice, or reinforce a wave.
- Buying only Spirit damage while the enemy has reliable channel interruption.
- Chasing kills after the team has already lost the ally Rem was meant to protect.
Rem Lore
Rem is an accidental stowaway from the world of dreams, stranded in the Cursed Apple and searching the five boroughs for a way home with his Lil Helpers. His gentle visual language hides a kit built around forced movement, battlefield sleep, and using friendship as literal transportation.

Rem FAQ
Is Rem beginner friendly?
Not especially. His mechanics are understandable, but choosing the correct ally, Helper target, route, and Naptime angle gives him one of the roster's highest decision loads.
What role is Rem?
Rem functions as a mobile support and controller. He heals, protects, moves with allies, supports waves, and creates large teamfight openings.
What should Rem upgrade first?
The most-used current path starts Tag Along, adds a second Tag Along upgrade, then invests heavily in Lil Helpers before the first Naptime upgrade.
Can Rem cast Lil Helpers during Tag Along?
Yes. Current game data explicitly allows Lil Helpers during Tag Along, which is central to Rem's mobile support sequence.
What interrupts Rem Naptime?
Naptime is a channel. Positioning, displacement, and control matter, although its upgrades can improve Rem's protection while channeling.
Sources And Methodology
The ability names, current game-data type, complexity, starting stats, and item popularity were checked July 21, 2026 through the independent Deadlock API, which parses current game data. The normal-match analytics window began June 20, 2026 and included 393,271 Rem appearances. The displayed ability path was the most-used complete sequence in a sample of 5,732 matches.
Popularity is not proof that an item or order causes wins. Players buy cheap items more often, late items appear mainly in long games, and hero difficulty changes outcomes. Treat the tables as a current starting route, then adapt to lane pressure, enemy damage, healing, crowd control, and your team composition.
Official source note: Valve’s Rem Enters The City That Never Sleeps announcement establishes the hero’s intended identity. The latest relevant official update rebalanced Tag Along healing and Lil Helpers upgrades on June 30, 2026. Deadlock remains in active development, so ability values, items, and strategy can change.
