Haze Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities, Combos & Counters
Learn Haze abilities, the current popular build, skill priority, stealth routes, Sleep Dagger setups, Bullet Dance timing, and counterplay.
Creating one-sided fights, stalking isolated targets, and scaling repeated gun hits
Updated July 21, 2026: Haze is a low-complexity assassin whose kit turns stealth, Sleep Dagger, repeated Fixation stacks, and Bullet Dance into one-sided gunfights.
Haze is strongest when she decides when contact begins. Smoke Bomb creates the route, Sleep Dagger removes one response, Fixation rewards staying accurate on the same target, and Bullet Dance punishes a fight that has already lost its defensive tools.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Haze at a 61.12% pick rate and 52.15% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Haze At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Assassin |
| Practical role | Stealth flanker, single-target gun assassin, and isolated-target finisher |
| Complexity | 1 of 3 |
| Starting health | 730 |
| Move speed and stamina | 8.2 m/s and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Creating one-sided fights, stalking isolated targets, and scaling repeated gun hits |
| Main risk | Entering before enemy control is spent or exposing Bullet Dance to focused counterplay |
Haze Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sleep Dagger | Damages and sleeps one target; later damage wakes it. The throw does not break invisibility and does not interrupt channels. | Create the opening, isolate a second enemy, or buy time to reload and choose the finish. |
| 2 | Smoke Bomb | Grants invisibility and sprint speed. Attacking breaks stealth, item use does not, and nearby enemies can reveal Haze. | Rotate unseen, approach from a side route, or disengage after pressure moves elsewhere. |
| 3 | Fixation | Repeated bullets add stacks and increase bullet damage against that target; headshots add stacks faster. | Stay disciplined on one exposed target instead of spraying the whole fight. |
| 4 | Bullet Dance | Fires at nearby enemies with perfect accuracy and added bullet damage during the flurry. | Finish after control and escapes are spent, not as the first visible event in a full teamfight. |
The kit rewards preparation more than surprise alone. Sleep Dagger does not stop a channel, close enemies can see through Smoke Bomb, and Fixation loses practical value when Haze changes targets without a reason.
Best Haze Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Bullet Dance
- Fixation
- Smoke Bomb
- Sleep Dagger
That completed route is common, not mandatory. Earlier Sleep Dagger or Smoke Bomb investment can be correct when lane safety and pick creation matter more than maximum ultimate output.
Haze Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Extra Spirit, Surge of Power, Rapid Rounds, Extra Health | Adds ability pressure, weapon tempo, and enough health to survive the first committed exchange. |
| Core | Burst Fire, Swift Striker, Slowing Hex, Fortitude | Supports repeated shots, target access, chase control, and durability between flanks. |
| Late | Echo Shard, Spiritual Overflow, Superior Duration, Crippling Headshot | Extends Spirit and gun scaling while creating another high-impact ability cycle. |
The current pro sample leans hybrid rather than treating Haze as a single-button ultimate hero. Accurate Fixation pressure and survivable routes matter before expensive damage.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Haze pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Unstoppable or another control answer when stuns repeatedly end Bullet Dance.
- Use Veil Walker or movement tools when reaching a safe flank is the real problem.
- Choose anti-heal or resistance shred when the priority target survives the first full cycle.
How To Play Haze
Lane
Build Fixation on the same opponent when the angle is safe, secure souls, and preserve Smoke Bomb for a real route or escape. Sleep Dagger is most valuable when the wake-up damage is planned.
Mid Game
Move through side lanes and vision breaks before the objective starts. Haze wants the enemy to look at the main fight while she identifies the isolated damage dealer or support.
Teamfights
Wait for hard control, movement escapes, and defensive actives to appear. Dagger the cleanest interruption, stack Fixation on the chosen target, then use Bullet Dance only when the surrounding enemies cannot answer together.
Late Game
One death can decide the map. Value concealment and target certainty over a speculative montage angle; a patient Haze who removes one carry is more useful than a fast Haze who reveals into six players.
Haze Combos And Fight Patterns
- Basic pick: Smoke Bomb approach, Sleep Dagger, position for the head, then sustained Fixation fire as the target wakes.
- Teamfight finish: enter after control is spent, build Fixation on the priority target, use Slowing Hex if needed, then Bullet Dance inside the safe window.
- Escape reset: break line of sight, use Smoke Bomb after nearby reveal pressure ends, then rotate instead of returning through the same angle.
Haze Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Haze
- Group tightly enough that Haze cannot take a free one-on-one, but keep spacing against Bullet Dance.
- Save a stun, displacement, or defensive active for her ultimate window.
- Track Smoke Bomb routes with close-range vision and likely flank timings.
- Wake a slept ally only when the team can immediately protect or reposition them.
- Force Haze to shoot a durable front target instead of the isolated carry she wants.
Common Haze Mistakes
- Opening with Bullet Dance before enemy control is spent.
- Spraying several targets and failing to cash in Fixation.
- Using Smoke Bomb beside enemies who can reveal it.
- Treating Sleep Dagger as a channel interrupt.
- Buying only damage while every flank ends in the same stun.
Haze Lore
Haze serves the Occult Security and Investigation Commission in its Sandman Division, entering dreams to assess threats and, when ordered, put them to sleep permanently.

Haze FAQ
Is Haze beginner friendly?
Her complexity is 1 of 3, so the buttons are approachable. Good Haze play still depends on flank timing, target selection, and not wasting Bullet Dance.
What is the best Haze build?
The current pro sample mixes early Spirit and gun tempo, then Burst Fire, Swift Striker, control, and late hybrid scaling. Adapt defense before copying every slot.
Does Sleep Dagger interrupt abilities?
It sleeps a target but current game data explicitly says it does not interrupt enemy channeling abilities.
What counters Haze?
Grouped positioning, saved crowd control, close-range reveal pressure, and defensive actives that survive or stop Bullet Dance are the cleanest answers.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 129-game Haze pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
