Building damage amplification during an airborne Barrage, teleporting into the backline, and surviving the counterburst inside the Satchel
Updated July 21, 2026: Pocket is a medium-complexity assassin who stacks personal damage through Barrage, launches and teleports to a damaging cloak, disappears into an invulnerable suitcase, and spreads non-lethal damage over time with Affliction.
Pocket needs two destinations: the entry and the exit. Barrage can float through an aerial angle while building damage stacks, Flying Cloak creates the approach, Enchanter's Satchel avoids the answer, and Affliction punishes the grouped backline. The kit becomes fragile when every movement tool is spent on the same direction.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Pocket at a 26.53% pick rate and 46.86% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Pocket At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Assassin |
| Practical role | Backline Spirit assassin, projectile-amp skirmisher, cloak teleporter, and non-lethal area damage disruptor |
| Complexity | 2 of 3 |
| Starting health | 780 |
| Move speed and stamina | 7.2 m/s and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Building damage amplification during an airborne Barrage, teleporting into the backline, and surviving the counterburst inside the Satchel |
| Main risk | Following Flying Cloak into a watched group after the defensive Satchel has already been spent |
Pocket Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Barrage | Channels projectiles that deal Spirit damage and slow around impact. Hero hits grant stacking increased damage, and airborne casts make Pocket float without preventing Air Dash or Flying Cloak. | Start from an aerial or covered angle, hit heroes to build amplification, and preserve movement while the channel continues. |
| 2 | Flying Cloak | Launches a sentient cloak that travels forward and damages enemies; recasting teleports Pocket to the cloak. | Threaten an entry without committing immediately, cross terrain, or teleport only after the landing point and Satchel exit are safe. |
| 3 | Enchanter's Satchel | Pocket escapes into a suitcase, then deals Spirit damage to nearby enemies when the duration ends. Any action can end it early. | Avoid the most dangerous response, delay for cooldowns, and choose the exit timing instead of always waiting for the full duration. |
| 4 | Affliction | Applies non-lethal damage over time to nearby enemies and does not trigger item procs. | Spread pressure across a grouped fight after reaching the backline, then leave allies or another damage source to finish targets. |
Pocket's sequence is flexible, but the damage rules matter. Barrage hero hits increase later damage, Affliction cannot kill by itself and does not proc items, and Satchel delays rather than guarantees safety. Flying Cloak should create options; an automatic recast makes the landing predictable.
Best Pocket Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Flying Cloak
- Affliction
- Barrage
- Enchanter's Satchel
This is the largest completed max-order route in the current standard-match sample. It prioritizes the repeatable mobility and damage tool, then the broad Affliction pressure. Barrage and Satchel remain central at base value even when their final upgrades arrive later.
Pocket Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Monster Rounds, Mystic Burst, Cultist Sacrifice, Cold Front | Stabilizes lane economy and adds immediate Spirit pressure around the first close-range ability cycles. |
| Core | Tankbuster, Mystic Expansion, Compress Cooldown, Enchanter's Emblem | Scales repeated Spirit damage, expands important areas, and shortens the next cloak, Satchel, or Barrage cycle. |
| Late | Superior Duration, Spirit Burn, Superior Cooldown, Greater Expansion | Extends Affliction and control windows while adding high-end Spirit pressure, uptime, and coverage. |
The current pro sample is a direct Spirit route. Lane economy and burst lead into Tankbuster, expansion, cooldown, duration, and Spirit Burn. Majestic Leap appears frequently as another angle, but the core idea is to amplify and repeat the ability cycle while keeping enough movement to survive the exit.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Pocket pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Ethereal Shift when Satchel alone cannot cover the enemy's delayed burst and control.
- Use Dispel Magic when a defensive effect prevents the Affliction-and-burst sequence from converting.
- Choose Majestic Leap when vertical access and a safer Barrage angle matter more than another raw Spirit item.
How To Play Pocket
Lane
Use Monster Rounds to keep souls stable and Barrage from a protected airborne angle. Flying Cloak can pressure the opponent without a recast. Keep Satchel ready when the enemy can punish the landing, and avoid using Affliction as if its non-lethal damage will finish a target alone.
Mid Game
Begin with Barrage hits to build damage amplification, launch Flying Cloak through the target route, and decide during travel whether to teleport. Cast Affliction after reaching several valuable enemies, then Satchel through the expected control or burst.
Teamfights
Approach from above or the side while allies hold attention. Barrage the group, teleport only when the backline is reachable, apply Affliction, use close Spirit actives, and exit Satchel toward cover or a surviving Cloak path rather than deeper into the team.
Late Game
The first entry may not kill because Affliction is non-lethal. Confirm allied follow-up, track cleanse and control, and preserve one movement decision for the exit. A patient Cloak that is never recast can still force the enemy to respect two positions.
Pocket Combos And Fight Patterns
- Standard entry: cast Barrage from the air, land hero hits for amplification, launch Flying Cloak through the backline, teleport, apply Affliction, then enter Satchel through the response.
- Safe pressure: send Flying Cloak without committing, Barrage from the original angle, use Cold Front or another Spirit active when the enemy approaches, then teleport only if the new position is safer.
- Satchel timing: apply Affliction and close-range damage, enter Satchel before control lands, watch enemy movement, then exit early toward cover when waiting the full duration would be punished.
Pocket Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Pocket
- Watch the Flying Cloak destination and hold control for the teleport.
- Move away from Pocket while Affliction is applied and heal after anti-heal pressure ends.
- Delay area damage for the expected Satchel exit.
- Break Barrage sightlines before repeated hits build amplification.
- Protect low-health allies because Affliction needs another damage source to finish them.
Common Pocket Mistakes
- Automatically teleporting to every Flying Cloak.
- Entering after Enchanter's Satchel was already used.
- Expecting Affliction alone to kill a low target.
- Missing Barrage hero hits and committing without damage stacks.
- Leaving Satchel at the predictable full duration when an early exit is safer.
Pocket Lore
Pocket is Arin Fairfax, the eldest Fairfax Industries heir. After being shot and left for dead at eighteen, Arin entered hiding, adopted a new identity, and began searching for whoever wanted them removed from the family company.

Pocket FAQ
What is the best Pocket build?
The current pro sample starts with lane economy and Spirit burst, then emphasizes Tankbuster, expansion, cooldown, duration, Spirit Burn, and optional mobility.
Can Pocket Affliction kill enemies?
No. Current game data describes Affliction as non-lethal damage over time, and it does not apply item procs.
What should Pocket max first?
The largest completed current route maxes Flying Cloak, then Affliction, Barrage, and Enchanter's Satchel.
What counters Pocket?
Watching the Cloak landing, delayed damage at the Satchel exit, breaking Barrage sightlines, spacing Affliction, and protecting low targets reduce Pocket's disruption.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 185-game Pocket pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
