Bebop Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Hook Combos & Counters
Learn Bebop abilities, the current weapon-forward build, Grapple Arm combos, Sticky Bomb scaling, Hyper Beam timing, and counterplay.
Turning one hook into a positional collapse and controlling where a fight happens
Updated July 21, 2026: Bebop is a medium-complexity brawler who pulls enemies or allies with Grapple Arm, rearranges fights with Exploding Uppercut, scales Sticky Bomb, and channels Hyper Beam through the space he creates.
Bebop is popular because one accurate Grapple Arm changes the whole screen. The difficult part is deciding whether the next pull is a kill, a rescue, or a trap for Bebop himself.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Bebop at a 58.58% pick rate and 47.03% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Bebop At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Brawler |
| Practical role | Hook initiator, displacement brawler, ally saver, and sustained beam threat |
| Complexity | 2 of 3 |
| Starting health | 880 |
| Move speed and stamina | 6.45 m/s and 3 stamina |
| Best at | Turning one hook into a positional collapse and controlling where a fight happens |
| Main risk | Missing Grapple Arm, pulling the wrong target, or becoming an easy slow frontliner |
Bebop Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Exploding Uppercut | Knocks a nearby target away, then deals Spirit damage and reduces fire rate around the landing. It can target allies. | Send a hooked enemy into your team, peel a diver, or launch an ally out of danger. |
| 2 | Sticky Bomb | Attaches a delayed area bomb. Hero hits and kills add permanent bonus damage, with diminishing stack rules. | Attach before displacement so the target carries the explosion into a bad position. |
| 3 | Grapple Arm | Pulls the first character hit to Bebop and can also pull allies. | Create a pick, save a teammate, or interrupt positioning before the beam. |
| 4 | Hyper Beam | Channels a long energy torrent that deals Spirit damage and slows. | Punish a lane, choke, objective, or displaced group after safe channel positioning. |
Two abilities work on allies, so Bebop is not only an enemy-hook character. Strong play reads both teams: a rescue can be worth more than a speculative pick, and a bad enemy pull can deliver a dangerous brawler directly onto your backline.
Best Bebop Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Exploding Uppercut
- Grapple Arm
- Hyper Beam
- Sticky Bomb
The largest completed route currently maxes Uppercut first. Bomb-focused builds can justify a different order, especially when the player is consistently earning permanent stacks.
Bebop Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Headshot Booster, Headhunter, Extra Health, Slowing Bullets | Improves lane gun pressure, durability, and the ability to keep a displaced target in range. |
| Core | Fortitude, Enduring Speed, Sprint Boots, Fleetfoot | Offsets Bebop's low base speed and supports repeated positioning around hooks. |
| Late | Weighted Shots, Spirit Resilience, Siphon Bullets, Counterspell | Adds sustained weapon pressure and the durability needed to survive committed front-line play. |
The current pro sample is notably weapon-forward. Sticky Bomb scaling still matters, but popular purchases show that Bebop cannot rely on one delayed explosion while ignoring movement, health, and gun pressure.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Bebop pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy debuff reduction when slows and silences prevent a second hook or safe retreat.
- Use Spirit scaling when your match is producing reliable Bomb stacks and protected Hyper Beams.
- Choose direct armor or Counterspell when the enemy punishes every front-line pull with the same burst.
How To Play Bebop
Lane
Stand where Grapple Arm threatens a wall or ally firing line. Use gun pressure to make the opponent dodge predictably, and do not spend every hook the moment it comes off cooldown.
Mid Game
Move with teammates who can convert a pull. Bebop alone can displace a target; Bebop plus prepared damage can remove it before the enemy team repairs the mistake.
Teamfights
Decide whether you are picking, peeling, or beaming before pressing the first button. Hook and Uppercut one target only when the landing zone favors your team, and channel Hyper Beam from cover or height after interruption tools are committed.
Late Game
A single ally rescue or enemy pull can decide the base fight. Accuracy and restraint beat fishing through six players, especially when the wrong target is built to survive inside your team.
Bebop Combos And Fight Patterns
- Classic pick: Sticky Bomb the target, Grapple Arm, then Exploding Uppercut into the allied damage line.
- Peel: Grapple Arm an ally out of danger or Uppercut the diver away, then slow the follow-up with gunfire.
- Beam setup: pull or Uppercut enemies into a narrow route, create distance, then Hyper Beam through the forced path.
Bebop Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Bebop
- Use cover, minions, and angles to deny a clean Grapple Arm line.
- Do not stand where an Uppercut landing sends you deeper into the enemy team.
- Save interruption or line-of-sight breaks for Hyper Beam.
- Punish Bebop after a missed hook, before the next positional threat returns.
- Identify whether the build is weapon or Spirit focused before buying the wrong resistance.
Common Bebop Mistakes
- Pulling the toughest enemy into your own backline.
- Treating ally-targeted abilities as enemy-only tools.
- Channeling Hyper Beam in open sight before interrupts are spent.
- Building only Sticky Bomb damage despite poor stack generation.
- Ignoring movement purchases on one of the slower heroes.
Bebop Lore
Bebop is a scrap golem built by a widowed junk-yard attendant who raised him as family. He now takes dangerous night work to pay for Miss Shelly's medicine, even though she would not approve of the details.

Bebop FAQ
Can Bebop hook allies?
Yes. Grapple Arm can pull allies, making it a rescue and repositioning tool as well as an enemy pick tool.
What is the best Bebop combo?
The reliable pattern is Sticky Bomb, Grapple Arm, then Exploding Uppercut into a prepared allied firing line. The landing direction matters as much as the button order.
Does Sticky Bomb scale permanently?
Hero hits and kills add permanent bonus damage, although current game data includes diminishing rules after enough hits and kills.
What counters Bebop?
Cover, blocked hook lines, punishing missed Grapple Arms, and saved channel interruption reduce his ability to dictate positioning.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 121-game Bebop pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
