Celeste Deadlock Guide (2026): Build, Abilities & Combos
Learn Celeste abilities, the current hybrid build, skill priority, Light Eater trades, prism defense, Radiant Daggers, Shining Wonder, and counterplay.
Marking one target with Light Eater, sustaining through accurate follow-up, and spreading late Spirit pressure through Radiant Daggers and Shining Wonder
Updated July 21, 2026: Celeste is a medium-complexity marksman with four stamina, a cone that primes enemies for Spirit damage and lifesteal, a reactive prism barrier, a delayed light explosion that stacks personal Spirit damage, and a bouncing slowing orb.
Celeste is mobile but fragile. Light Eater turns accurate follow-up into Spirit damage and recovery, Dazzling Trick punishes enemies who break its barrier nearby, Radiant Daggers reward predicting where a fight will remain, and Shining Wonder bounces through grouped targets. Stamina creates options; it does not replace cover.
Current meta snapshot: Tracklock’s standard-mode, all-rank table showed Celeste at a 26.22% pick rate and 48.81% win rate when checked July 21. These numbers move as matches arrive; they explain why this guide exists, not what every future patch will look like.
Celeste At A Glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Game-data type | Marksman |
| Practical role | Mobile hybrid marksman, Spirit-lifesteal duelist, reactive prism defender, and bouncing area-damage caster |
| Complexity | 2 of 3 |
| Starting health | 690 |
| Move speed and stamina | 6.2 m/s and 4 stamina |
| Best at | Marking one target with Light Eater, sustaining through accurate follow-up, and spreading late Spirit pressure through Radiant Daggers and Shining Wonder |
| Main risk | Relying on four stamina to compensate for very low health or wasting Dazzling Trick before the enemy commits enough damage to break the barrier |
Celeste Abilities
| Slot | Ability | What it does | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Light Eater | Blasts a cone of light. Enemies hit take Spirit damage when Celeste attacks them and provide Celeste Spirit lifesteal. | Prime the target before a sustained weapon trade, then keep accurate pressure on the marked enemy to recover health. |
| 2 | Dazzling Trick | Surrounds Celeste with a protective prism. If the barrier is destroyed, it silences nearby enemies and deals damage based on part of the barrier. | Cast before the committed enemy burst, remain near enough for the break effect to matter, or use the protection to cross a dangerous firing window. |
| 3 | Radiant Daggers | Calls down a beam that forms after a delay and explodes for Spirit damage. Hitting an enemy hero grants Celeste a stacking Spirit-damage buff. | Place beneath control, at an objective entrance, or on the route where the enemy must remain long enough for the beam to complete. |
| 4 | Shining Wonder | Launches a slowing Spirit-damage orb that reduces dash distance, bounces to nearby enemies, and lingers while seeking targets if none are immediately available. | Start on grouped heroes, restrict escape distance, and let the hero-prioritizing bounces spread pressure through a teamfight. |
Celeste combines weapon accuracy with Spirit conversion. Light Eater needs follow-up attacks, Radiant Daggers need prediction or control, and Shining Wonder gains value from grouped enemies. Dazzling Trick is strongest when its barrier breaks close enough to silence the attacker, not when it absorbs irrelevant poke at maximum range.
Best Celeste Ability Order
Tracklock’s largest completed skill-max route on the July 9 patch prioritized:
- Light Eater
- Radiant Daggers
- Shining Wonder
- Dazzling Trick
This is the largest completed max-order route in the current standard-match sample. It prioritizes the repeatable damage-and-lifesteal mark, then the stacking Spirit beam. Shining Wonder follows for teamfight pressure, while Dazzling Trick remains important defense at base value.
Celeste Build
| Stage | Current popular package | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Early | High-Velocity Rounds, Opening Rounds, Kinetic Dash, Extra Stamina | Improves the accurate opening trade and lets Celeste use movement without immediately exhausting her defensive options. |
| Core | Mystic Expansion, Spirit Lifesteal, Healbane, Radiant Regeneration | Broadens Spirit effects, strengthens recovery, limits enemy healing, and stabilizes the fragile mid-game skirmish. |
| Late | Greater Expansion, Spellslinger, Spiritual Overflow, Escalating Exposure | Scales large teamfight effects and turns sustained weapon contact into increasing Spirit pressure. |
The current pro sample uses a hybrid opening before leaning hard into Spirit sustain and scaling. High-Velocity and Opening Rounds reward precise early shots, while expansion, lifesteal, Healbane, Spellslinger, Spiritual Overflow, and Escalating Exposure let Celeste convert continued contact into broad late damage.
This is a dated route, not a shopping script. Check the live Celeste pro-build sample, compare alternatives in the Deadlock builds guide, and use the items guide when the enemy composition demands a counter purchase.
Situational Purchases
- Buy Counterspell when one targeted control effect consistently removes Celeste before the prism can matter.
- Use Bullet Resilience against weapon-heavy teams that burn through Dazzling Trick and the low health pool.
- Choose Dispel Magic when an enemy defensive effect prevents a fully stacked Spirit sequence from converting.
How To Play Celeste
Lane
Use cover despite the four stamina. Land Light Eater before the real weapon trade, fire while the mark returns Spirit lifesteal, and place Radiant Daggers where the opponent must choose between leaving a soul and taking the delayed explosion.
Mid Game
Approach from a side angle that keeps one dash for retreat. Light Eater the priority target, use Shining Wonder to slow and reduce dash distance, place Radiant Daggers on the constrained route, and cast Dazzling Trick before the return burst.
Teamfights
Let Shining Wonder bounce through grouped enemies and use expansion to make Radiant Daggers harder to avoid. Maintain weapon contact for Spirit effects, but do not stand inside the enemy front line merely to trigger the prism silence.
Late Game
Celeste's 690 starting health leaves little room for a positional error. Track remaining stamina, defensive cooldowns, and flank vision. Repeated accurate contact and stacking Spirit effects beat one unsupported dive into the whole enemy team.
Celeste Combos And Fight Patterns
- Marked trade: hit Light Eater, fire accurate shots for bonus Spirit damage and lifesteal, then use Shining Wonder to slow the escape and shorten dash distance.
- Delayed burst: Shining Wonder the grouped target, place Radiant Daggers on the restricted route, continue firing through the delay, and use the explosion to add a Spirit-damage stack.
- Defensive turn: cast Dazzling Trick before the burst, stay close enough that a broken barrier can silence the attacker, Light Eater for recovery, then dash toward cover while firing.
Celeste Strengths And Weaknesses

How To Counter Celeste
- Break line of sight after Light Eater instead of feeding sustained lifesteal.
- Leave Radiant Daggers before the beam fully forms.
- Do not group tightly enough for repeated Shining Wonder bounces.
- Trigger Dazzling Trick from range or wait out the barrier instead of breaking it nearby.
- Pressure after Celeste spends several stamina charges and has no clean exit.
Common Celeste Mistakes
- Treating four stamina as permission to ignore cover.
- Firing before Light Eater primes the target.
- Placing Radiant Daggers on current position instead of the required route.
- Using Dazzling Trick on poke and losing it before the committed burst.
- Diving into close range only to force the prism silence.
Celeste Lore
The Dazzling Celeste is a real unicorn hiding in plain sight as a Coney Island sideshow performer. She risks revealing her power to the Patrons after discovering that a member of her found family sold part of their soul to cover a gambling debt.

Celeste FAQ
What is the best Celeste build?
The current pro sample opens with accurate weapon and movement tools, then emphasizes Spirit lifesteal, expansion, anti-heal, regeneration, Spellslinger, Spiritual Overflow, and exposure.
How does Celeste Dazzling Trick work?
It creates a protective barrier. If enemies destroy it, nearby enemies are silenced and take damage based on part of the barrier.
What should Celeste max first?
The largest completed current route maxes Light Eater, then Radiant Daggers, Shining Wonder, and Dazzling Trick.
What counters Celeste?
Breaking Light Eater sightlines, leaving delayed beams, spreading against bounces, triggering the prism from range, and punishing spent stamina reduce her hybrid pressure.
Sources And Methodology
Hero type, complexity, starting stats, ability names, and ability descriptions were checked July 21, 2026 against the current Deadlock API asset data. That independent project parses the live game files; it is not Valve.
The meta snapshot comes from Tracklock’s standard hero table. The item package comes from its rolling 149-game Celeste pro sample, and the skill priority comes from completed normal matches on the July 9 patch. Tracklock says it captures a large proportion of matches, not every match. Pick rate, win rate, item frequency, and completed-build win rate answer different questions and must not be treated as interchangeable proof.
Valve’s July 9, 2026 update is the current official patch reference. Deadlock remains in active development, so recheck the live build and patch notes before copying a route into a later version.
